The presence of anemia may worsen the disease because of the poor oxygen carrying capacity of blood in anemic patients; however, the association between COVID-19 and anemia is still not very obvious.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aim of the study: <\/strong>The objective of the current study was to evaluate the clinical features of COVID-19 patients with anemia and to further analyze the association between anemia and COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Patients and methods: <\/strong>The current case control study was carried out in Al-Diwaniyah Teaching Hospital, Al-Diwaniyah Province, Iraq. The study included 30 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 based on clinical features, radiology and polymerase chain reaction test with confirmed anemia (Hb &lt;10 g\/dl) who served as the study group and 30 patients with COVID-19, but without anemia (Hb &gt; 10 g\/dl). All enrolled patients were adults win an age of &gt; 15 years. Those patients were randomly selected from the pool of patients visiting the medical ward during the period starting from June August 2021 through December 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Results: <\/strong>There was no significant difference in mean age between study group and control group, 47.17 \u00b112.63 years versus 52.27 \u00b112.13 years, respectively (<em>p<\/em> = 0.116). There was no significant association between gender and anemia in COVID-19 patients (<em>p<\/em> = 0.459). There was also no significant difference in mean BMI between study group and control group (<em>p<\/em> = 0.524).\u00a0 There was no significant difference in clinical features between study group and control group (<em>p<\/em> &gt; 0.05).
