Abstract : <\/strong><\/p>\n

Streptococcus mutans<\/em> plays a role in the pathogenesis of periodontitis, a common disorder that has been suggested that Streptococcus mutans<\/em> grow as a biofilm.<\/p>\n

Material and methods :<\/strong>This study has investigated 230 samples (200 patients and 30 controls), their ages between (40-71) years, from July 2022 to October 2022. The individuals of this study were divided into four groups: The first group was\u00a0 for patients suffering from periodontitis and have diabetes mellitus withRheumatoid n\u00a0 80(40%). The second group was suffering from periodontitis and have diabetes mellitus n 65(32.5%). The third group was patients suffering from periodontitis and have Rheumatoid n 55(27.5%). The fourth group was control volunteers with no gum disease\u00a0 referred as control n (30). Objective<\/strong>: To establish the bacterial species that create a biofilm and to isolate and identify the bacterial species that causes periodontitis. Mouth swab were obtained for aerobic and anaerobic culture, microtiter plate method (MPA), and congo red agar (CRA), methods were used to detect the biofilm formation. Result<\/strong>: The result show\u00a0 that from 65 isolation of Streptococcus mutans<\/em>, 23 of them formed strong biofilm by MTP method, while 27 of them formed strong biofilm by CRA method. In addition other bacteria have been isolated at different percent such as 71 positive isolation for\u00a0 ,23 positive isolation for\u00a0 Clostridium spp,<\/em>70 positive isolation Enterococcus gallinarum<\/em>,79\u00a0 <\/em>positive isolation for\u00a0 Enterococcus gallinarum<\/em>.<\/p>\n
