Abstract
Psychological and cultural motives are among the most important motives in drawing the outline of the personality, in setting practical determinants, and in determining the intellectual orientation, as well as latent and invisible factors in imposing the artistic style on the writer when expressing himself or society.
The critical realism of great writers such as Gogol and Al-Sayyab did not find its way in the product of the two writers by choice, but it was an inevitable fate that took place in the merits of their texts, called for by the social data that the two writers lived through and the images of injustice that do not fit with the universality of the individual, his dignity and freedom to live, and he also called for it. The thought influenced by the two writers familiarized with it, so we tried in this research to delve into the details of these reasons and their reflection in the product of the two writers.
The method followed in all work is the comparative method, and sometimes the analytical method in some details.
The aim of the research is to show the social value of these two works in memorizing the injustice inflicted on societies by the people of power and the people of social influence, as well as showing the cultural awareness and artistic ability of both writers in carrying ideas and selecting appropriate vocabulary and meanings.
