ABSTRACT

The current study dealt with the study of the effect of the pesticide Mandit on the vitality of earthworms Aporrectodea trapezoids, Allolobphora longa and their histological structure,When using three concentrations, 3000, 2000, 1500mg/kg in addition to the control group for the period of 7, 14, 21 and 28 days, through which the effect of this pesticide on the survival rate of adult and young worms was studied, it was observed that the survival time of the young worms differed from that of the adult worms when exposed to the same concentrations, as the time required to kill 100% of the young was 101, 96, 57 minutes, while the adult worms took a time period to kill 100%, which is Double the time period in some concentrations, which is 104 and 97.85 minutes, respectively.

The effect of the fungicide on worms weight was also studied, as it was noted that worms weight decreased with increasing concentration, and all concentrations showed a significant effect of worm weight decrease, and the highest decrease was recorded at the concentration 1500 mg/kg, which amounted to 1.1586 g when compared with the control group, which recorded 4.2502 g ,as for the time period, it was noted that the longer the time period, the lower the worms’ weights at all concentrations, and the highest decrease was recorded at the concentration of 1500 mg/kg, which amounted to 0.637 g at the time period of 21 days. As for the last period of 28 days, all the worms died and could not survive.

The study also dealt with the effect of the fungicide on the relative growth rate of worms, which showed that this pesticide had a significant effect on the growth rate of worms and for all concentrations, and that this decrease in growth increased with the increase in the time period and the decrease in concentration, and the lowest growth rate recorded was at the concentrations 1500 and 2000 mg / kg which reached 21.63 and 23.13%, respectively, during the 21-day rearing period.

As for the protein content of worms bodies, it was also affected by the pesticide, especially at the concentration of 1500 mg / kg, which amounted to 0.153 mg / g when compared with the control group, which recorded 0.282 mg / g.

The histological abnormalities of treated worms were also studied  Some tissue sections showed epidermis flexion and necrosis that extended into the circular muscle layer and There is a space between the longitudinal muscles or a lack of thickness in other tissue sections , As for digestive  channel  observed crash of epithelium   the digestive channel or bleeding  subepithelial  with obvious degeneration of bile cells in other sections.
