Abstract :

The impact of political and civilized maturity is largely apparent in the quality of citizenship, which includes many and varied dimensions, including legal, material, cultural, and behavioral. Citizenship is also known as a means used to achieve a specific end. One of the political thinkers is Mr. Yassin, who made it clear that citizenship is not a one-time substance, and thus the concept of citizenship becomes clear to us as a democratic choice made by specific societies through long-term historical periods.

The concept of citizenship through the ages is affected by political and social development, the beliefs of societies, the values of civilizations and major global changes. The government sees citizenship as the basis of society’s life, and its programs seek to gather the poor and the rich as partners in the renewal of society.

Achieving prosperity and progress in the country needs two things, the first of which is personal identity, and the second is belonging to the homeland. In order to get to know the concept of identity in a broader way, we must shed light on the meaning of this term, which is embodied in the accurate description of the person and the expression of his personality separately, in addition to his relationship with the groups with which he coexists. In short, identity is a tool for distinguishing a group from another group and a nation from another nationThe importance of this research is embodied in knowing the extent of the impact on the concept of identity in Iraqi society, which has suffered and is still suffering from internal or external conflicts and crises and their impact on the Iraqi social structure. The impact of these crises and the narrowness of the space for hope in their near dissolution led to the continued destabilization of trust among political leaders, the results of which appeared in staining the Iraqi street with the blood of young people during the past years. Citizenship is the characteristic of a citizen who has rights and duties imposed by the nature of his belonging to a homeland. Among these rights that a citizen seeks to obtain are: the right education, health care, and work.Accordingly, citizenship is the relationship of an individual to his state, a relationship defined by the constitution and the laws emanating from it, which carry and guarantee the meaning of equality between those who are called citizens.
