Abstract

This study included measuring and analyzing the impact of some economic variables on the performance of the agricultural sector in Iraq. The study used annual time series data during the period (1995-2018). The study was based on the hypothesis that there is an impact of some economic variables on the value of agricultural output represented by each of the added value And agricultural exports and imports, trade openness, and the agricultural workforce, and their impact is either negative or positive.

The study reached a number of relevant results, as it was found that there is a significant and direct effect of each of the added value, agricultural imports and trade openness on agricultural output, and that both agricultural exports and the labor force had a moral effect, but in a negative way on agricultural output because of what Iraq suffers from the lack of interest in the aspect of agricultural production. Agricultural exports, as there are very few agricultural commodities exported.This aspect was not supported by the state, in addition to the impossible conditions imposed by the receiving state for our goods. As for the labor force, its adverse impact had causes, including migration from the countryside to the city, the low level of basic services, the low standard of living in the countryside, and the lack of sufficient job opportunities.
