Abstract
The study aims to identify women’s economic empowerment and its impact on income distribution. The importance of empowering women in income distribution is evident through the role they play in reducing gender inequality, whether in wages or jobs, in addition to increasing equality in access to education, health, legal services, etc., which represents a prerequisite for approaching the goal of reducing inequality in the distribution of income. income. Unbalanced panel data for 22 low- and middle-income developing countries were adopted for the period (1995-2020), the ARDL model was used to estimate the impact of women’s economic empowerment and income distribution. The estimated model took into account, in addition to women’s economic empowerment, the impact of per capita GDP, population growth rate, and corruption as explanatory variables. The results showed that women’s empowerment, corruption perception index, and per capita gross domestic product had a significant positive impact, while population growth had a significant negative impact on income distribution.
