Abstract
The field experiment was carried out in the field belonging to the College of Agriculture in the Al-Buaitha region in the city of Ramadi during the fall season 2021 with the aim of stimulating seeds with the growth regulator Brassinolide and its role in the vitality and activity of the seedling and the field establishment of varieties of sorghum to determine the best stimulation treatment for the best variety and used the randomized complete sectors design ( RCBD) in the field experiment and with three replications and for two factors, the first is a seed soaking treatment for (12) hours in a distilled water solution with the growth regulator pracinolide at concentrations (200, 400 and 600) mg L-1 in addition to the control treatment (soaking with distilled water only) and the second factor is three varieties of maize White (Save, Rabeh, and Lilo.)
The results of the field experiment showed that the treatment of seed stimulation with the growth regulator pracinolide and the concentration of 600 mg L-1 was significantly higher by recording the highest averages in most of the studied traits, as it recorded the emergence speed (75.44%), the percentage of emergence (90.00%), the plant height (165.14 cm) and the chlorophyll content (62.09 spud) and leaf area (610.49 cm2). As for the characteristic of the number of days from planting up to 75% of flowering, the same concentration was distinguished by giving it the lowest number of days amounted to (61.11 days) compared to the comparison treatment (soaking with distilled water only.)
The cultivars differed significantly among themselves, as the cultivar was distinguished in some traits, as it gave the highest average for the field emergence speed of (69.58 %), the percentage of emergence (86.58%), the plant height (161.96 cm) the chlorophyll content (57.80 spud), and the same cultivar was distinguished for the number of days from Cultivation up to 75% of flowering by recording the least number of days (63.00 days), and for the leaf area characteristic, the Lilo cultivar was distinguished in it, as it gave the highest average of (600.85 cm2), and the results showed a significant effect of the interaction between the two study factors in most of the studied traits.
We conclude from the results of this study that stimulating the seeds with the growth regulator pracinolide in general led to an increase in and improvement of all studied traits, and thus it will be positively reflected on the grain yield by increasing its components.
