Abstract

Nandrolone Decanoate is an anabolic androgenic steroid from testosterone derivatives. It is usually used in the treatment of many conditions, including anemia, osteoporosis, and muscular dystrophy, in addition to its use by bodybuilders to obtain huge muscles by increasing muscle mass, but continuous use for a long time and without Medical monitoring leads to many benevolent side effects. Adropin is a hormone consisting of 76 amino acids that is secreted by many tissues of the body, such as the liver and the brain. Adropin has many functions such as regulating glucose and fat metabolism in the body, and thus has a role in preventing obesity. The study aimed to evaluate the histological effect of Nandrolone Decanoate on brain tissue and its effect on the level of Adropin in serum in albino rats. Fifteen white male rats were used for this experiment, distributed equally and randomly into three groups, the first group represented the control group, the animals of the second group were injected subcutaneously at a dose of 0.1 ml / kg of Nandrolone decanoate every five days once, for eight weeks, while received the animals of the third group the dose of 0.15 ml/kg of Nandrolone Decanoate every five days once, for eight weeks. The results showed that Nandrolone decanoate works to induce degeneration, necrosis and death of cells and the formation of cavities and vacuoles around the cells in addition to the occurrence of blood congestion in the blood vessels within the brain tissue compared to the control group, while its effect on Adropin, the results of the study showed an increase in the level of adropin is not significant compared to the control group.
