Abstract
The collapse of France’s power in Indochina had the effect of reminding the United States of America to extend the belt encircling the Soviet Union to East Asia. On September 8, 1954, specifically in the Philippine capital, Manila, the United States of America, Britain, France, Thailand, the Philippines, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand signed a NATO treaty. East Asia. The protocol of the treaty included extending the protection of the alliance to include Laos, Cambodia, and the Republic of Vietnam, and the United States of America added a reservation to the alliance’s charter that this alliance would only be used to confront the communists. This was intended to reassure India that it would not intervene in the event of a war between it and Pakistan. The importance of studying the issue of India’s position on the establishment of the Southeast Asia Alliance 1954-1955 lies in the fact that the establishment of this alliance represented one of the aspects of the Cold War between the United States of America and the Soviet Union, especially after Pakistan joined the alliance, which means that Pakistan became part of that conflict and the United States must The United States of America should stand by its side and support it, but India has become in a position of danger as it will not join the Soviet Union, the second party in this war, and therefore it no longer has an external force to support and defend it, unlike its neighbor and enemy at the same time, Pakistan.
