Abstract:

This field experiment was conducted in the 2019/2020 agricultural season in a high rainfall area in Fayda sub-district of Semeel district, Dohuk governorate. The field experiment was carried out with two factors: 64 bread wheat varieties planted in Iraq, and the second factor is the sowing date at two levels: early sowing before the fall of the first heavy rain and the late sowing after the first heavy rain fall .

The most important results obtained can be summarized as follows:

The early first sowing date achieved a significant superiority in most of the yield and its components rates over the second sowing date. The bread wheat varieties (Azmar, Khanaqin, Hasad, Jarmo, Maarof, Ala’a, Koya 18, Bohouth 158, and Latifiya) were characterized by achieving the highest rate of grain yield compared to the rest of the bread wheat varieties. The bread wheat varieties (Azadi, Erbil 2, Adana 99, Maarof, Koya 20, Saberbek, Benkal, Mahmudiya, Latifiya, Tekin) were distinguished by achieving the highest rate of the test weight trait compared to the rest of the bread wheat varieties. The bread wheat varieties (Sabarbeek, Jarmo, Rabia, Maarof, Rashidiya, Illico, Azmar, Koya 18, Koya 8, Mahmoudiyah, Baghdad 1) were characterized by achieving the highest rate of protein in grains compared to the rest of the bread wheat varieties.
