Abstract

This study aimed to know the nature of relationship between occupational satisfaction and occupational development among the staff members at Colleges of King Khalid University – Abha. Within this objective, other specific objectives include determining of the general feature of occupational satisfaction, the statistical differences in occupational satisfaction occupational development among the staff members at College of Education, King Khalid University – Abha that attributed to variables of specialization, years of experience and job level.

To fulfill these objectives the researcher adopted the descriptive correlative approach. The study sample was (34) of the staff members at College of Education, King Khalid University – Abha selected using random sampling technique. The researcher considered that the sample should include all the specialization in the college of education. For data collection, the researcher used different tools including information form to collect primary data from the study sample, Occupational Satisfaction Scale prepared by Anwar Hamza Al-Mahmoud (1999) and Occupational Development Scale prepared by Hala Mahmoud Tayseer (2010). Data was analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS).

The study revealed the following findings: there was high level of occupational satisfaction among the staff members at College of Education, King Khalid University – Abha, while occupational development was low. No significant correlation found between the occupational satisfaction and occupational development. There were no statistical significant differences found in the occupational satisfaction and occupational development due to variables specialization, years of experience and job level among the staff members at College of Education, King Khalid University – Abha. Accordingly, the researcher recommends necessity of provision of extensive programs that realized occupational development.
