Abstract
The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) has raised security and privacy concerns. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of blockchain technology as a potential solution to these concerns. The paper begins with an overview of the key concepts and components of blockchain technology, as well as how they can be used to improve IoT security and privacy. It delves into various blockchain-based solutions proposed for IoT authentication, access control, data integrity, and privacy.
- Introduction
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly expanding field that is changing the way we interact with our surroundings. As more devices connect to the internet, the need for secure and private communication becomes more critical. Blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution to the IoT’s security and privacy issues.
We investigate the various applications of blockchain technology in the context of IoT security and privacy in this survey paper. We begin by discussing the key security and privacy challenges in the Internet of Things, as well as the limitations of traditional security solutions. Then, we’ll go over blockchain technology and the characteristics that make it a good candidate for securing IoT devices and data.
We categorize blockchain-based solutions for IoT security and privacy based on key characteristics such as consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, and privacy-preserving techniques. We also look at existing research and practical implementations of these solutions and compare their strengths and weaknesses.
In addition, we discuss the technical and design challenges of integrating blockchain technology with IoT, such as scalability, interoperability, and energy efficiency. Finally, we discuss future research directions and potential applications of blockchain technology in the domain of IoT security and privacy.
