Abstract
When we call on those we love, we call them by their most beloved titles and nicknames because the sound of calling is one of the most important means of communication in our daily lives. Poets have used it a lot in their poetry, especially our poet Haider Al-Hilli in his supplications. Hence, we studied this style in his elegies and divided the research into an introduction and two chapters. The introduction included: (The Poet’s Life) and the first was devoted to: (The call in grammatical terminology, and the construction of the call sentence in his poems), while I specified in the second chapter: (The Called One in Haider Al-Hilli’s Elegies) in which I stopped at the types of the called one used, the letters of the call, and the grammatical case of the called one.
