Abstract

Periodontal diseases refer to common inflammatory disorders, which are gingivitis and periodontitis, caused by a pathogenic microbiota in the subgingival biofilm that triggers inflammatory, innate, and adaptive immune responses. Aim of the study: Measuring the levels of IL_10  and VD3 for patients suffering from periodontitis, for people who use orthodontic treatment, and comparing them with healthy people who do not use orthodontic treatment . Methods: 90 blood samples were drawn using a sterile syringe with a capacity of 5 ml (60 blood samples from people with gingivitis) and (30 blood samples from healthy people in the control group). After that, the blood samples were separated by a centrifuge at a speed of 3500 rpm. For ten minutes separate the serum, then place the serum in a 1.5 ml Eppendorf tube and then store it at a temperature of -20°C until used for immunological tests .Results: The results recorded that Periodontitis infection distribution in age groups (10-20, 21-30 and > 31) were (65%, 28.3% and 6.7%), About (98.3%) showed positive bacterial growth which were Streptococcus pyogenes (61.9%), Staphylococcus aureus (11.1%),  Enterococcus fecalis (7.9%), Streptococcus mutans (6.3%), Klebsiella spp and Staphylococcus epidermidis ( 4.8% %) for both, and (1.6 %) for Streptococcus sanguinis and kocuria kristinae. There was non-significant increase in IL – 10 level in patients with Periodontitis in comparison with control group that were (14.8±3.20, 10.9  ± 2.71), at p-value > 0.05.There was significant decrease in V D 3 level in patients with Periodontitis in comparison with control group at p-value > 0.05,Conclusion:The study’s findings indicate that there are no IL-10 level variations between the periodontitis patients and the control group. Patients with periodontitis had significantly higher V D 3 levels than the control group (p-value < 0.001).
