Abstract
This research discusses strategies for teaching English phonetics to EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students who may struggle with English pronunciation due to differences in their native language. The strategies include introducing the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), using minimal pairs to differentiate between similar sounds, incorporating videos and audio recordings of native speakers, encouraging practice, and utilizing technology. The research emphasizes the importance of helping Iraqi EFL students in Terath University College in Bagdad, Iraq country improve their English pronunciation in order to effectively communicate in English.This research explores effective strategies for teaching English phonetics to Iraqi EFL students at Terath University, addressing pronunciation challenges stemming from their native languages. Key strategies include the introduction of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), the use of minimal pairs for sound differentiation, and the incorporation of multimedia resources such as videos and audio recordings of native speakers. The research emphasizes the importance of practice and the use of technology to enhance learning outcomes, ultimately aiming to improve communication skills in English.
